The Boston Ivy Cafe, Mittagong
Easily one of the most beautiful buildings in the Highlands, this spectacular 1800s property is now home to the The Boston Ivy Cafe.
The goal here was to create a more usable courtyard, increase capacity, and provide more variety in the spaces patrons could enjoy.
The project started with the demolition and excavation of a significant portion of the rear of the courtyard, with the flooring levelled out and travertine pavers laid. Sandstone edging bordered the travertine, giving form to the garden beds, and accentuating the connection between the paved and grassed sections.
Speaking of, the very rear was turfed to allow some play area for kids and dogs, while still keeping with the style.
The rear fence was also reshaped to create a more inviting rear entrance, and to ensure disabled access was easy and comfortable.
This was the first phase in the grand plans of our clients, and we look forward to phase two!
