Merilbah Road, Bowral, NSW
This project was a complete transformation of the side and rear yards of this home in Bowral. The area was demolished, and reshaped, with some existing structures modified in preparation of the incoming works.
The salient element of this project is the stunning spotted gum deck, platforms, and stairs connecting the rear verandah to the lower levels of the garden. Crafted using a steel and timber frame, spotted gum decking boards, and upcycled hardwood sleepers, the final design features angled decking boards, waterfall-edged seating, lighting, and a firepit area
Adjacent to the deck, an existing retaining wall was partly demolished and then extended and tiered in order to create a more usable lawn area which was prepared and freshly turfed. The rear area was then finished with over 260 new plants.
The side of the property was cleared of its existing deck, pergola, and brick pavers. Very dark, large format pavers were then installed and a large pergola constructed to make more use of the space for entertaining. Finally, a custom catio was fabricated and installed, along with some custom furniture and play equipment for two very lucky cats.
